Camp Imagination is a five-week arts and literacy day camp for 50 children from West Baltimore and surrounding communities. Each summer, campers explore creativity through painting, music, storytelling, and performance while strengthening their reading, writing, and self-expression skills.
Led by local caregivers, teens, and volunteers, Camp Imagination provides a safe and joyful space where children build confidence, practice teamwork, and discover the power of their own voices.
Every day at Camp Imagination brings new adventures and creative discovery—from visual arts, music, dance, and drama to outdoor games and team challenges. Campers participate in daily art lessons, DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read), and tutoring. Each week, they explore the world through field trips to museums, parks, theaters, and more, and they’re inspired by guest artists, musicians, and community leaders who spark curiosity and confidence.
Local teenagers serve as Junior Counselors, gaining hands-on work experience while mentoring younger campers. Guided by staff and teaching artists, they practice leadership, teamwork, and responsibility in a supportive environment.
At Camp Imagination, children are encouraged to make choices, share ideas, and take ownership of their camp experience. Whether deciding how to approach a project, leading an activity, or performing on stage, campers discover that their voices matter.
The highlight of the summer is our annual showcase for families and friends. As campers prepare and perform, they practice teamwork, responsibility, and self-expression—and step into the confidence that comes from sharing their creativity with others.
